JEAN KELLEY, College Administrator

Jean Kelley left home at 15 and was pregnant by 17. Marrying a man who turned out to be abusive, she abandoned her dream of going to college and spent two years on welfare. At age 49, she earned a Ph.D. in higher education administration. Since retiring from her job as Director of Student Services at Norwalk Community College in Connecticut, she's been traveling around the world.
