At 52, after working 20 years at Michigan Blue Cross and struggling with dyslexia, homelessness and depression, Rainelle Burton published her critically-acclaimed first novel The Root Worker. The book was selected as a Borders Books Recommended Book and a Great Lakes Book Award finalist. She's currently a writer-in-residence at Wayne State University and is working on a second novel.
