WINI YUNKER, Peace Corps Volunteer

Born and raised in the small town of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Wini Yunker was devastated when the Peace Corps rejected her at age 26. She waited almost four decades before reapplying. During the intervening years, she raised a son, rose through the ranks at the Sargent & Greenleaf lock company, and studied nights and weekends to complete her education. At age 65, she finally fulfilled her dream and left the States for a two-year tour in Ukraine. She had the time of her life!
